These gowns completely cover stethoscopes of any size which allows healthcare workers the freedom to use their own stethoscopes in isolated hospitalized patient rooms. Hospitals will no longer be required to purchase isolation stethoscopes thereby decreasing hospital infection rates costs.
Why?
Often, after gowning up and putting on gloves, healthcare workers later realize the isolation stethoscope is not in the isolated patient’s room and most will use their own stethoscopes which then become contaminated. Studies show high risk of contaminating patients with our heavily contaminated stethoscopes which increases hospital acquired infections and costs. Over 90% of healthcare providers do not clean their stethoscopes nor isolated stethoscopes after each use.
